The Power of Connection – Community and Collaboration in Mental Wellness

It is broadly acknowledged that the pandemic has had a devastating effect on the nation’s mental health. In this panel discussion chaired by Dr Jo Trelfa of Iron Mill College, we will be diving into the mental health impacts of the last two years on individuals and on wider society, and reflecting on what can we do to support each other and ourselves in stressful times.

Dr Jo Trelfa is principal of Iron Mill College, the UK’s leading provider of third level education in the fields of Counselling & Psychotherapy, 40+ years established.

Denise Corby will join us from Eating Disorders Devon; Gill founded the specialist counselling service in 2012, and is a qualified counsellor and Body Image Movement Global Ambassador. Denise is a qualified therapist and education welfare officer.

Vanessa Miles is a freelance photographer, offering photography courses here at Exeter Phoenix, and is a Director and Founder of Well Image CIC, which offers photography workshops to enhance wellbeing, inspire creativity, and connect people socially.

June works with Bridge Collective, a CIC that offers opportunities for social contact and mutual support, learning, and discussion across the local community. They also nurture an ‘Experts by Experience’ network that seeks to share lived experiences in a supportive space of peers to promote positive public awareness and increase confidence in talking about mental health
