A Season Of Nordic And Scandinavian Cinema
Scandifilm returns to Exeter Phoenix for a third year of unique and enchanting film experiences, all centred around Scandinavian cinema.
This is more than just a film festival. This is an opportunity to live, eat and breathe Scandi. Join us throughout January, February and March to experience our pick of the best new Scandinavian film titles and much more.
A slice of Danish history in new drama from the makers of The Killing, bone-chilling horror based on true life events at Norway’s Lake Bodom, and magical gender-role-bending fantasy based on one of Sweden’s best selling novels.
Follow fearless cave divers, see the film that’s been dubbed the ‘real life Cool Runnings’ and find out what happens when culturally isolated teens discover synthesisers in the untold story of the rise of Norwegian dance music.
This season is crammed full of experiences that go beyond your average trip to the cinema. Join us to drink lingonberry juice and liquorice vodka, experience magical live storytelling from the Viking sagas and warm yourself with hot chocolate and marshmallows at our retro Nordic camp.
There will be opportunities to meet and greet the filmmakers behind some of the season’s best films, and experience for yourself why the Danes are beginning to consider bugs as good eating, in our special insect tasting workshop.
