Digital Textile & Surface Pattern Design

This is an introduction to using Photoshop, over two days, to explore digital surface pattern techniques, that will be part of the process to enable you to develop and manipulate your own design ideas, in your future textile designs. Through a series of exercises the course covers:

  • Creating documents
  • Creating shapes
  • Filters
  • Using the colour tool
  • Transformation of shapes
  • Layer transparency
  • Layer masks
  • Defining patterns for fills
  • Putting tiles into repeat
  • Finalising designs for digital printing

 


Images will be provided to work from during the course. Please bring a notebook, pen and a USB stick to save your work.

Individual needs will be catered for where possible. All courses are taught on Apple Mac computers and skills learnt are transferable to PC.

Lesley Goss BA Hons, PGDip CADCAM

Lesley studied BA Fashion/Textiles at Birmingham Polytechnic. Then designing and hand screen printing fabric, t- shirts and hand painting silk scarves. Followed by a Post Graduate Diploma from Staffordshire University in Computer Aided Design and Manufacture.
