DOCLAB returns with its monthly Development Lab, offering a safe space to talk about, workshop and develop your documentary film projects. The labs will offer peer and professional support and feedback to help filmmakers hone their documentary film skills.
Every session gives attendees an opportunity to practice pitching their documentary ideas to the group or show projects they’ve worked on for feedback and discussion.
To reserve a slot for pitching or presenting please email luke.hagan@exeterphoenix.org.uk
For our March Development Lab we will be joined by documentary filmmaker Hugh Hartford of Banyak Films for a discussion and Q&A. Hugh’s impressive career has included feature films Maya (ZDF/Arte & BFI Doc Society), Thank You For The Rain (ZDF/ARTE), Ayouni (Doha Film Institute) and Ping Pong (BRITDOC, Film4), and Beads on One String (Netflix). He’s had films released theatrically worldwide – both commercial cinema and festivals and has worked with broadcasters and platforms around the world including Al Jazeera, ARTE, BBC, Channel 4, Netflix, NBC, NHK, NRK, PBS, SVT, TVO, Yle, ZDF.
What is DOCLAB?
DOCLAB brings together novice and emerging filmmakers from across Devon who are currently, or aspiring to, make short and longer form documentary films. The aim is to inspire and enable participants through networking, film screenings and talks/workshops and ultimately to discover who is out there and what YOU need.
DOCLAB is a collaboration between Exeter Phoenix and OSBD Media Charity.
