Take a vibrant artistic journey through Latin America and explore some of the 20th C artists who have drawn from their indigenous culture, European colonialism and modern political struggles to shape the art of this region and beyond.
Each week we will be exploring the work of artists such as Marta Mujin, Feliciano Centurian, Olga Blinder and Frida Kahlo for inspiration and taking a fresh look at some of the art movements that influenced them. We will then be making our own artworks using a variety of media including painting, drawing and collage to create our own responses to the region and its rich art history.
Session Dates
Wednesday Evenings, 7pm – 9.30pm
Artist and educator Ludmila Centurión grew up in Asunción, Paraguay where she studied and worked before moving to the UK to complete a MA in Creative Arts in Education at The University of Exeter. After graduating in 2021, she has chosen to stay in England to continue exploring the arts, arts education, creativity and this country’s diverse cultures. She has over 10 years of teaching art to a broad range of students, from children to adults. Her studies and workshops draw on the ideas of British philosopher and art historian, Sir Herbert Read and her own cultural heritage.
