We are really looking forward to re launching our art classes and workshops and reconnecting with our community of creatives, tutors and artists.
In response to the ever-changing situation we find ourselves in due to the pandemic we are aiming to develop an offer of online courses and workshops as an alternative addition to our building based art class programme.
All you need to take part in these sessions is a computer with a webcam and microphone. We suggest using a laptop or desktop computer, but you can also use your tablet or mobile phone. We recommend using a WiFi connection to avoid data charges.
At the moment our virtual workshops won’t be recorded so will not be available to view at a later date.
Our workshops are social events where you can share ideas and connect with people, so we encourage participants to have their camera and microphone on during the workshop.
Creative journaling is a wonderful way of gathering and exploring creative ideas though image and the written word. It can also be a vehicle to look within as a way of overcoming creative challenges, or to investigate ideas. It stands as an introduction to ignite and fuel the imagination, leaning towards the visual, but there is also much scope for poetry and prose to be woven into the experience.
Over the course of 5 weeks we will go on a guided journey to meet and converse with our creative selves, responding through drawing, writing, collage, paint and more.
This is a great opportunity to meet other creatives in order to share ideas, experience and support. Join us with an open heart…The creative process can be at times exposing and uncomfortable, as much as great fun and hugely rewarding. This course offers a non-judgemental space for people to play. Everything is optional.
You will need materials. Please gather together anything you feel drawn to use form the list below. In addition, please bring along a medium that you are potentially more challenged by. (Oil paints take a long time to dry, so these are not recommended this time).
As this is a relatively short session we suggest preparing a drink and/or snack before starting so no time is lost.
All participants will need an A5 journal which will be used to document findings and ideas. This will hopefully become the launch pad for projects, proposals and further exploration. We can suggest this one from Cass Art price £1.95.
A basic assortment of materials and tools such as pens, paints, scissors and glue sticks please see list below for further suggestions.

Henrietta studied Fine Art Printmaking at Glasgow School of Art in the late 1980s and recently graduated with an MA in Painting from Plymouth College of Art. She has been painting and creating ever since, exhibiting in the West Country, Bristol, Scotland and London and in 2018 was included in in the Tate Exchange programme at Tate Modern.
Working primarily in oils her subject matter has shifted over recent years from atmospheric landscapes and still life to a more conceptual exploration of human connection. Creative journaling has always been an integral part of her practice.
Henrietta has many years experience of supporting people of all ages in their creative process, and also teaches Hua-Qigong, an ancient Chinese practice of cultivating creative energy.
