Sofia Coppola, USA, 94 mins, 2017
Named Best Director at this years Cannes for this film, Sofia Coppola presents an exquisitely crafted drama set in a small all-girls boarding school during the American Civil War.
Colin Farrell plays a wounded Yankee soldier who is discovered, nursed and sheltered by the small community of two teachers and five schoolgirls. As he is brought back to strength, the soldier manipulates the situation to his advantage oblivious to the fact that he is a pigeon among cats.
‘It’s the kind of movie that lingers on in your head, just like the best fairy tales.’
