A night of two contemporary singers, raconteurs and musical mediums of inescapable style and depth. Both players come from the slow-burn, rough-hewn, passionate side of musical stagecraft, full of swagger and stomp.
Frank Fairfield travels all the way from California and has a measured grace and time altering charm. His chops and his sincerity bites through while his raw intensity and quick-fingered technique make your hairs stand on end. So striking are his leisurely demeanour and his talent that he was asked to support Fleet Foxes on their 2008 US tour
From the North East of England Richard Dawson is a hidden jewel. He shines bright and hard while reeling in live audiences with his warm-hearted, idiosyncratic and eerily transfixing show. Dawson, a remarkable singer-guitarist, has been compared to Jeff Buckley.
As a foil for each other, this is a double bill of some reckoning, two straight up but skewed troubadours whose travels bring the audience lost popular songs and obscure esoterica that deserve attention.
the sort of person who makes you feel sort of glad to be alive, so passionate is he about his obsessions from a bygone age.
