Exeter Phoenix are pleased to announce the selection panel for this year’s Exeter Contemporary Open exhibition, which will consist of Independent Curator and Art Consultant, Ceri Hand, Turner Prize nominated artist David Shrigley and Phoenix Gallery Curator, Matt Burrows.
The annual competition is one of the highlights of the artistic programme at Exeter Phoenix and in the South West artistic calendar. It attracts hundreds of submissions each year from both emerging and more established contemporary visual artists, each hoping to be selected for this high-profile exhibiting opportunity and to be eligible for one of several cash awards.
Having selected some of the best new work from across the UK and beyond, the panel will announce the recipients of a £1000 Main Award and £500 Additional Award at a high profile launch event on the evening of September 11th, which is supported by HW Chartered Accountants and St Austell Brewery. A further £200 Audience Choice Award will be made at the end of the exhibition in October, as voted for by the visiting public.
The deadline for entries is Friday 13 June. (Click HERE for more details)

Matt Burrows is the exhibitions curator at Exeter Phoenix and has previously worked for Spacex Gallery, Exeter and Victoria Miro Gallery, London.
