Everyone deserves to tell their story.
But at Raw Writing, we often meet aspiring writers who struggle to overcome their own ‘imposter syndrome‘. Writing – for both personal and professional purposes – can feel inaccessible; an opportunity that’s blocked by some immense, immovable door. And carved into the face of that door might be one word: grammar.
At Raw Writing, we provide the key to unlocking the door of imposter syndrome. By stripping away some of the technical vocabulary which underpins the English language and making grammar real and tangible, we aim to boost the confidence of writers of all levels through our Write It Right crash course on grammar. On this course, you will explore the fundamentals of the English language, learning to recognise, distinguish and then deploy nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. You will learn the difference between a clause and a sentence, understanding what makes a passage of prose grammatically correct. You will have the chance to delve into the realm of punctuation, identifying when and where to use commas, semicolons and colons. Later in the course, we will look at unfamiliar terminology, such as anaphora, cataphora, modal verbs, prefixes, and suffixes. The best writers understand the rules of the English language. They break these rules with intention and purpose to maximum effect. If you’d like any more information before signing up, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. This course is aimed at beginners but everyone is welcome!
