An exciting evening of six innovative new works in development by SW based dancers and makers.
Come and share in the exciting stage of work in progress for Exeter and SW based performers and makers. This event is open to dance, dance theatre and physical theatre genres. This idea of a scratch night is to informally present ideas or work in early stages of development. It may be a turning point in the artist’s process and ready for audience feedback to shape the process.
Programme
Ruth Bell – Costumography, a curious investigation into the co-creation of costume and choreography, exploring characters evoked through images.
Clare Parker – Persephone Waits, explores myths of the underworld, wintering and weathering.
Millie Parker – Girlhood and Screaming, How does your idea of what it means to be a woman change as you grow up? Nostalgia, eldest daughter energy, indignation, the external eye, grieving change, quiet anger, girlhood.
Esme Lovell – Outside Eyes is a physical representation of poems I have written based on my interpretations, observing situations involving people aged 50+. Do you feel seen or stereotyped?
Jane Mason – Land, Fragments of song, text and movement. Coming out of a need to keep moving as an older dancer. Seeing what is left in a time of change.
Kathleen McKee – Deer Woman protects wild places and is linked with the hunt; she connects us with our ancestral ways and ceremonies.
