Ziggy Alberts is an Australian singer-songwriter and author who has established himself as one of Australia’s leading independent artists. His genuine grassroots story has lifted his artistry into universal acclaim, captivating audiences across the globe – a testament to his song writing ability and powerful live performance. Founder of his own independent label, Commonfolk Records, and book publishing house, Commonfolk Publishing, Ziggy Alberts has managed to craft what many musicians and authors dream of – the ability to tell a story on their own terms. His forthcoming sixth -studio album, DANCING IN THE DARK, due November 2022, will be yet another example of how he showcases his artistic growth and shares his ever-evolving story with the world. With over 1.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone, show sizes on the continuous rise and praise from the likes of Billboard Magazine, American Songwriter, Ear Milk and Clash UK, there is no doubt this will be Ziggy Alberts’ year. In 2022, Ziggy was awarded with an APRA for his track letting go. He has also earned ARIA Platinum certifications for Laps Around The Sun (Double Platinum), Gone, Runaway, Heaven, Love Me Now, Stronger and Four Feet in the Forest (EP) plus, Gold certifications for his Laps Around The Sun album and six tracks in his catalogue.
Commonfolk Presents & Communion Music proudly announce that Ziggy Alberts will return to the UK and Ireland as part of his REWIND TOUR in 2023.
This tour celebrates the release of Ziggy’s forthcoming studio album, DANCING IN THE DARK, set to be released on 4 November 2022.
On the REWIND TOUR, fans can anticipate a show full of Alberts’ signature, energetic and captivating stage presence. Be there as he opens his heart to crowds and shares his melodies of adventure, courage and connection. Expect singalongs from his ARIA Top 5 Album searching for freedom, his eagerly awaited release DANCING IN THE DARK, and of course, the fans’ foot-to-the-floor favourites. It’s a show you won’t want to miss. The forthcoming November album, DANCING IN THE DARK, sits in a genre-self-titled by Ziggy – as “Future Folk”. In his own words, “the album is a blend of the honest and raw, with the smoothness and touch of synthesised soundscapes, intentional tuning and programmed organic samples… that reflects accurately the range of experiences we are having as humans in our current world.” Matched with Ziggy’s storytelling and sincere songwriting, the new record shows yet another step in Alberts’ growth as an artist, his music and personal explorations, both introspectively and in the natural world.
“For fans who’ve been following Ziggy’s career from day dot, his increasing popularity wouldn’t come as a shock. To everyone else, the Ziggy story is probably still something of a surprise. He’s a self-mad success, and it’s a grassroots swell plenty of people are getting behind”

“Folk-hewn but modern-facing, his work sits alongside those early Ben Howard cuts or even Jack Johnson, that kind of slick but still endearingly earnest musicality.”
