Italy, 2014, 83 mins. Dir. John Maloof, Charlie Siskel
Prompted by the discovery of 100,000 impressive urban street images of 1950s New York and Chicago in an auction purchase, this intriguing documentary details the search for the elusive street photographer Vivian Maier.
Secret location: Meet at Exeter Phoenix to be led to a hidden location and be drawn into this mysterious investigation of the life of Vivien Maier. You will be led to a secret screening space by photographer Vanessa Miles who’ll be sharing top tips to create great street photography along the way. Bring your camera or even use your mobile phone to take snaps.
Post-screening discussion: Journey into Maiers hidden world and uncover the themes of the film, ultimately asking who was Vivian Maier?
Professional photographers Vanessa Miles and Benjamin Borley will be participating in the Q&A session to follow the film surrounded by a display of local photography work.
Please note: The ‘secret location’ for the event is a building which is not normally open to the public. Please contact us at least 48 hours in advance if you have any access requirements. There will be a 10 – 15 minute walk from Exeter Phoenix to the location.
