Social Vessel

In many parts of the world, the bowl is the primary eating vessel and always has been. Recently here in the UK the bowl has shifted in status from a supporting role to centre stage on our tables. In this session ceramicist (and co -founder of Exeter Seed Bank) Mandy Biscoe will guide you through the tactile process of making and decorating your own food bowl. Mandy will take the bowls away to be dried, fired and glazed with a food safe glaze and returned to Exeter Phoenix to be collected. If you have been to any of the Food on Film Ramen screenings and workshops, then you might want to fill yours with noodles!

Social [practice] : Taste

Social [practice] offers an alternative platform for artists and creative producers to meet and make together in a series of hosted, hands- on projects. Along the way it aims to explore sharing, meeting & making, hosting, skill-exchanges and collaborative practice, often easing in with a sociable drink or two for good measure.

We are starting the year with a couple of sessions that connect with our Food on Film programme of films and events which this winter is exploring aspects of Taste, looking at it as a sense, a preference and an identity marker.

Workshop attendees get 10% off all food and hot drinks at the Café Bar.
