Exeter Phoenix is dedicated to providing a creative space for aspiring filmmakers to meet, discuss and develop their ideas in a community setting. There are several film networking groups that host monthly meet-up events at Exeter Phoenix to bring together and provide support for local filmmaking talent.

If you’re interested in filmmaking, whether that be scriptwriting, animation, documentary or something else, then keep reading - we might just have the perfect event for you…

Exeter Film Collective

Exeter Film Collective’s free networking event is a casual meet-up for anyone with an interest in working in film. Whatever aspect of filmmaking you want to get involved with, feel free to come along to their friendly group for some socialising and idea sharing.

Exeter Film Collective meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 7pm - 9pm in our Workshop space and is a free event.

You can join their Facebook group here >>>

The next session is taking place on Wed 01 Jul

Exeter Film Collective Writing Group

As well as running their monthly meet-ups, Exeter Film Collective also hosts a free monthly writing group. The group is peer-led and provides support for those looking to develop their work. Attendees will get the opportunity to share their written work with peers and receive feedback.

Exeter Film Collective Writing Group meets once a month on Monday from 7pm - 9pm in our Workshop space and is a free event.

The next session is taking place on Mon 22 Jun

We Animate on Tues

Yellow Mouse Studios hosts this monthly animation gathering for the purpose of networking and building opportunities. These informal gatherings provide a welcoming space for local talent, both those established in the industry as well as aspiring animators.

We Animate on Tues meets once a month on Tuesdays from 7pm - 9pm in our Workshop space and is free to attend.

The next session is taking place on Tue 14 Jul

DOCLAB

DOCLAB hosts a monthly Development Lab, offering attendees a safe space to discuss and develop their documentary film projects. Each session provides an opportunity to workshop documentary ideas, practise pitching to a supportive group, and share work-in-progress or completed projects for thoughtful feedback and discussion.

DOCLAB meets once a month from 7pm – 9pm in our Workshop space and is free to attend.

You can find out more on the Doclab website >>>

The next session is taking place on Wed 8 Jul

Alongside these meet-up sessions, our Creative Hub is a great place to find out about creative opportunities for filmmakers, both at Exeter Phoenix and from other organisations in the region.

You can find out more on the Creative Opportunities page or in our monthly Creative Hub publication.

Exeter Phoenix champions budding and more experienced filmmakers alike, and endeavours to provide opportunities for them to connect, work and learn together.

Luke Hagan, our Digital Programme Coordinator said, ‘It's great that we're able to foster and support so many passionate filmmaking communities at Exeter Phoenix. Film is a collaborative art form, so it's vital that we're able to help foster these creative networks. The number of collaborations that emerge from them, and projects that get made, demonstrate just how important they are!’
