Well image CIC is a social enterprise set up by Vanessa Miles. It uses photography to:
We work with charitable organisations by running predominately online groups. The length and content is adapted to the needs of the organisation and the participants. The pandemic has accelerated the use of online meeting technologies and this has enabled us to reach people who have felt isolated, for a whole variety of reasons. These may be ill health, general lack of confidence, disability, bereavement, addiction or any life changing event. The wide use of of smart phones and interest in photography makes our workshops very accessible.
Research shows our aims have a benefit to people’s mental and/or physical health. Many of the participants are reporting positive changes in their lives.
We are currently running a series of online workshops over the course of 2022 in collaboration with Devon Recovery Learning Community.
We have also been working with: Active Devon, Age UK Devon, Living Options Devon, Double Elephant, Pluss Devon, the Russell Clinic (Devon Partnership NHS Trust) and Torbay Community Development Trust.
Vanessa has a long history working in photography in a variety of professional roles and has 15 years teaching experience. She is a long time freelance photography tutor working with Exeter Phoenix. She also brings her own experience dealing with rare illness into her work as well as that of enabling and teaching those on the autism spectrum.
