Sumi is a traditional Japanese painting technique that aims to capture the subtlety of the natural world using black ink, brush strokes and washes.
Liliana Segovia is an artist and director of Multi Arte a vibrant centre for the arts in Asunción City, Paraguay. During her visit to Exeter this summer she is giving a demonstration of this technique. There will be materials and brushes for people to try out the techniques for themselves.
This workshop is a free drop-in.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Liliana Segovia is an artist and owner of Multi Arte, an art gallery in Asunción, Paraguay. Multi Arte opened its doors in 1997 and remains as the only art gallery still located in the historic city centre whilst other galleries migrated to more commercial areas. This cultural hub functions not only as a space to exhibit artwork from Paraguayan and international artists, but also as a space of encounter for artists and art enthusiasts. Multi Arte has offered a programme of art workshops for children, young people and adults for many years and continues to be an important resource and advocate for art and culture in Asunción.
