Head outdoors to explore Northernhay and Rougemont Gardens for artistic inspiration. Work in watercolour and ink to create a series of sketches that you can add to your portfolio or use to work from at a later date.
The session will begin at Exeter Phoenix and artist and tutor Sophie Berger will lead the session and be on hand to guide you through the basics of sketching outdoors
Basic materials are provided but you may want to bring along your own sketch book and brushes. Also please come dressed for the changeable British weather as we will be out and about even if it rains!
Sophie Berger is a practicing fine artist with work in UK and international galleries, she is a regular teacher for the short courses at Plymouth College of Art and Kingbeare Studios as well as Exeter Phoenix. Sophie’s work is greatly affected by colour and atmosphere, both of which change due to weather and seasons, so observation of the environment and surroundings influence her work both directly as well as subconsciously.
Living in a remote village on Dartmoor, Sophie spends her time on the moors or coastline, sketching in charcoal and coloured ink then using these to influence her paintings back in her studio.
Workshop attendees get 10% off all food and hot drinks at the Café Bar.
