Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo star in Yorgos Lanthimos (The Favourite, The Lobster) period sci-fi. An incredible tale about the fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter, a young woman brought back to life pitch-perfectly adaptated from Alasdair Gray’s 1992 novel.

When a young woman in Victorian England committed suicide, little did she know how much life lay in store for her. Re-animated the brilliant and unorthodox scientist, Dr Goodwin Baxter, Bella Baxter’s mind becomes alive to the opportunities the world offers.

Exeter was awarded UNESCO City of Literature designation in 2019 in recognition of “outstanding contributions to culture and creativity“.
