Inspired By The Art of Latin America

5 WEEK EVENING COURSE

Take a vibrant artistic journey through Latin America and explore some of the 20th C artists who have drawn from their indigenous culture, European colonialism and modern political struggles to shape the art of this region and beyond.

This workshop will have a focus on Latin American modern artists who explored:

  • Op-art: Gego (German- Venezuelan)
  • Art installations: Marisol (French- Venezuelan) and Félix González-Torres (Cuban),
  • Performance art: Ana Mendieta (Cuban) and ceramic: Julia Isidrez (Paraguay)

We will then be making our own artworks using a variety of media including painting, drawing and collage to create our own responses to the region and its rich art history.
