Further Exploring Textile Art

5 Week Course

This course explores the use of fabric as a medium for making both two dimensional and sculptural artworks taking inspiration from Textile Art trailblazers from South America and closer to home.

We will be exploring techniques such as hand stitching, appliqué, printing and take inspiration from artists who create using textiles and reflect on their practice.

Basic materials will be provided and we want to reuse existing fabrics rather than newly purchased so we encourage people to bring along their unwanted textiles to use and share – remember we are creating small scale objects so you won’t need too much! It will also be useful for you to bring along a sketch book to make notes and to record ideas.

You will also be encouraged to use what you’ve learned to explore your own creative ideas and personal approach.

We aim to create a safe space in which to share ideas and give constructive feedback on each other’s work.
