Freefall Letterpress Workshop

This workshop is hosted by some of the young people who attend Freefall and Freefall + who will help you to make your own letterpress poster. You can make up your own slogans and we will be using our unique wheelchair powered printing press.

All ages and abilities are welcome, children need to be accompanied by an adult.

This is a drop-in session and as there is limited capacity in our Workshop some waiting to attend may be required. We will try and accommodate as many participants as safely possible during the session.

Printing can be messy so wear something suitable.

About Freefall

Freefall is our free, weekly youth arts group for ages 13-16. The group gives young people a place to socialise, share ideas and develop creative projects together, working across a range of art forms and activities. Freefall sessions regularly explore ideas and events that connect with the wider programme of exhibitions, festivals and performances at Exeter Phoenix, working with a variety of artists and practitioners and visiting other cultural events in the city.

Freefall+, aimed at 16-25 year old school leavers with special educational needs and their carers, is delivered in partnership with local disability charity, The Pelican Project.

We want to actively encourage participation in the arts with young people from all walks of life and all abilities. Freefall+ provides a place to meet, share and explore the arts together.

REASON TO CREATE

A celebration of our cultural community  | Mon 9 Aug – Sun 15 Aug

Reason to Create is a pop-up festival in which we celebrate and showcase some of the incredible versatility, resilience and creativity of members of our city’s cultural community.

We have thrown our doors open for a week of free, low cost and pay-what-you-like events created by artists from our Creative Hub, that span a range of art-forms in a range of spaces in and around our building. Expect to find theatre shows, comedy, music, film & art, an insight into creative processes, networking events and a vibrant range of exciting, fresh ideas on show.

Inspired by the artists who told us that Exeter Phoenix offered them ‘a reason to create’ over lockdown, we are offering this platform to artists and audiences alike to get a taste of some of what makes the cultural community we share so special.
