It’s time to take a moment to look back on what Exeter Phoenix’s youth arts groups Freefall and Freefall+ have been up to over the past year. (The groups run during the academic year Sept – July).

We are always amazed by the number of projects and general arty activity the groups are involved with. They have been inspired by projects, exhibitions and films both here at Exeter Phoenix and across the City as well as having the chance to work with practicing artists and creatives. They have explored materials and processes including clay and paint and screen-printing and have made podcasts recorded interviews and so much more.

Freefall and Freefall+ provide a great starting point for young people to explore their creativity and meet like-minded people. For some it can be a point at which they start to develop their own creative practice making use of the support that Exeter Phoenix can offer in its capacity as a creative hub.

This year’s Walkway Gallery exhibition takes inspiration from some of the exhibitions and films the group have seen this year at Exeter Phoenix. The two groups exchanged ideas and manipulated images to come up with this design.
