Baby Disco – FAQs
Published July 31, 2025

Baby Disco is a free dance and sensory play for children under 4 and their grown-ups on Thu 28 Aug, 10.30am at Exeter Phoenix.
Join Sam Gilroy for a boogie with the babes starting with a warm up together, ready to dance along to our favourite club classics from the 90s to now, with fun nursery rhymes sprinkled in between. There will be scarves and instruments to play along with the disco bangers!
See below for our frequently asked questions about the event or book your free tickets here >
You may attend with a maximum of 3 children to 1 adult, but we recommend 1 adult to 1 child, if possible, for full enjoyment.
We advise sessions are for 0-4 years although we have had a 10-year-old who loved joining in with her 2-year-old sister, so we won't turn anyone away, but please be respectful and give space to small babies and little ones to move around.
There will be soft mats on the floor. Scarves and instruments will be provided. Please bring your own blankets for babies.
You will be greeted by Sam who will direct you to park your buggy and find a seat/space to begin the sessions together in a circle. You can grab a tea and coffee throughout the session.
Yes, but please be aware we will keep buggies to one end of the room. Step-free access to the building is available via a ramped entrance on the side of the building. The side entrance is equipped with automatic doors. A lift is available in the main foyer for you to bring your buggy upstairs. Alternatively, there will be buggy parking available in the main foyer downstairs, which will be monitored by our box office team. Further access information and a floor plan can be found here.
We will be upstairs in Studio 1, with black curtains drawn and windows open, there will be a small disco light at one end of the room with the music playing. We will have a circle of seating for people to use at the beginning and end, people who are breast/bottle-feeding may wish to use the seats or floor space at any time.
Yes, there will be plenty of space to spread out.
We know children can be messy! If your little one spits up or drops some food, don’t panic. Simply let one of our Front of House team know and they will come and assist you however you need us to.
There will be a nappy changing area available in the space. We also have private baby changing facilities downstairs next to the cinema.
Teas and coffees will be provided in the space for you to help yourself to. Hot and cold drinks are also available to purchase in the café bar downstairs. Our food menu is fully vegetarian, including delicious wraps, toasties, jacket potatoes, soups, salads, small plates and sides. A children’s menu is available. More information can be found here. You are welcome to bring from home whatever food and drink your child may need into Studio 1, as long as no glass or ceramics are brought in; we just ask that this food is not consumed in our café bar downstairs. Hot water will be available from the café bar if you need to heat up milk for your child.
We have been able to make this one-off event free of charge thanks to support from the Community Matters Scheme and spaces are limited. Please contact our box office to let us know if you are no longer able to attend so we can offer your space to another family.
If you still have questions, please contact our Venue & Visitor Services Manager Anna-Ruth on annaruth.peelcusson@exeterphoenix.org.uk or call 01392 667060.
