Dir. Jean-Pierre Jeunet
2001 | 122 mins | UK | French with English and descriptive subtitles
Audrey Tautou, Mathieu Kassovitz
Montmartre is one big playground for the naive and innocent Amelie, who dreams of love and who spends her spare time brightening the lives of others. Set against an iconic Parisian backdrop and enhanced by Yann Tiersens beautiful soundtrack, Amelie proves that one person can change your life forever.
Combining Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s astonishing visual invention with a story that dips and curves mischievously to delightful consequence. 25 years on Amelie will still leave you smiling days later.
This film will play with Descriptive Subtitles, a service for our Deaf/deaf and hard of hearing customers that displays additional auditory information on the screen. Find out more here >

29 Jul – 01 Aug 2026
Exeter Phoenix moves outdoors for four nights of cinema under the stars. This year we will sing, and we will dance. We will make new friends and challenge old ones. And along the way, we might just discover that the best stories happen when the sun goes down.
