Tuner follows veteran piano tuner Harry Horowitz (Hoffman) who is losing his hearing, and his shy apprentice Niki’s (Woodall) whose hearing is incredibly sensitive due to a condition which obliges him to wear earplugs at all times. Together, they’re the best tuners in New York city. But when Niki’s skills are called on in unusual circumstances, he is exposed to a criminal but lucrative side trade cracking safes.

Against the backdrop of Western India’s vast, rugged landscapes, Kanawade’s understated, beautifully photographed modern romance won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival 2025.
