Young + Animated Saturday Club – Four Week Course

Running on Saturday mornings from Sat 18 Apr

This popular group is run in partnership with Animated Exeter and provides fun and detailed exploration of both digital and stop motion animation.

The course is run by highly-trained animators and filmmakers. Our tutors recognise the importance of attending to individual needs, meaning the group is suitable for those experienced in animation and those curious to make a start. Over the six-week period there will be opportunity for plenty of development and experimentation, as well as time for each participant to complete a personal project.

There will be a special screening of the films produced at the end of the course.

Ashley Thorpe – BA Hons Film / Fine Art

Ashley’s short animated horrors Scayrecrow, The Screaming Skull and The Hairy Hands have been screened across the world, winning numerous international awards. Ashley uses a wide array of animation techniques including rotoscoping, After Effects and stop motion and encourages those he teaches to experiment and rejoice in the form.

Ashley illustrates and writes for New York based horror periodical Fangoria Magazine and has also scripted two critically acclaimed radio plays for Larry Fessenden’s U.S production company Glass Eye Pix; The Demon Huntsman and Dead Man’s Shoes. He has also provided animated sequences for BBC Manchester and Derren Brown’s Trick of the Mind for Channel 4.
