This is a taster workshop to gain some insight into public art, artists and site-specific work. You will be encouraged to think outside the box allowing you to access your personal creativity and ways of thinking while creating a design for a public art piece related to its environment.

Course aim

Develop my personal creativity by exploring different ways of working, creating, and thinking.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Have more knowledge of public artworks.

You will be informed nearer the time but the basic materials will be provided.

Get Creative With Public Art- Taster

During this course you will develop your thoughts and opinions by gaining more insight into public art, artists, and site-specific work. You will be encouraged to think outside the box allowing you access into your personal creativity and ways of thinking while creating a piece of artwork. The intention is that you will create your own piece of work but work collaboratively with students to create a joint public artwork to be exhibited at the end of the course. On this course we will also be doing a public art walk around Exeter.

Course aim

To gain an insight into public art and artists; discuss what makes a good piece of public art and create a piece of public art.

  • Gain more insight into artists’ work.
  • Have more knowledge of public artworks.
  • Work collaboratively with other students to create a piece of public art.
  • Gain confidence in my own creativity.
