Tove is the captivating story about Moomins creator Tove Jansson, and her turbulent search for identity, desire and freedom. Exploring the early years in post war Helsinki as a struggling young artist through to her growing reputation as an illustrator and author. Inspired by a series of passionate relationships with both women and men, Tove brings to life her bohemian lifestyle which defied convention.
All screenings will be accompanied by an exclusive pre-recorded introduction and Q&A with Tove director Zaida Bergroth & lead actress who plays the titular Tove Janasson.
All screenings of Tove are presented in collaboration with Reclaim The Frame – a mission to bring ever-greater audiences to films by women to widen and enrich cinema’s perspective of the world, run by charity Birds’ Eye View, and backed by the BFI’s Audience Fund.
