    Feminism In Art

In the run up to International Women’s Day, find out more about how different female artists have expressed the issues within Feminism, in the 20th century and beyond. The day will include a tour of the Claude Cahun exhibition considering ideas of gender, identity and place.

Women Artist and the Body – On this day we pay homage to the women artists, who used the bodies as a mechanism for communication to claim a voice in the art world. Considering slides form the 20th and 21st century we will discuss the impact of feminism on art history and culture. In the afternoon we will work in the studio to create new art work around the themes and your own ideas in drawing, painting, mixed media or performance.

‘Art is a process- orientated tool. With the help of this tool you can better understand life’s complexity’
    YOKO ONO

‘Freedom is not something you are given but something you have to take’
    MERET OPPENHEIM

My work is not against cosmetic surgery, but against the standards of beauty, against the dictates of a dominant ideology that impress themselves more and more on feminine flesh….and masculine flesh.
