Step through the briars to meet the trees of these lands in this outdoor show for all ages by the Hedgesong Collective. Experience the woods sing through musical storytelling, moving crankie paintings and tapestries of song.

These folkloric explorers will introduce us to the Hazel, Birch, Hawthorn, Oak, Elder, Holly, Ash and Willow. Each of these trees hold their place within the year’s wheel, with an ancient story to tell.

The Hedgesong Collective gather and share traditional folk songs about trees in their stage performances and singing workshops. Reviving the songs with rich harmonies and narrative folklore, the collective celebrate the native trees of these lands.

This performance was made especially for Green Phoenix Festival and the commission was made possible with support from Fenton Arts Trust.

Please note this performance takes place outside. You may bring your own chair, blanket or cushion to sit on and refreshments can be brought into the park. Chairs can be stored in our Secret Garden while you enjoy other activities at the festival, and this area will be monitored by stewards throughout the day.

In the event of wet weather, the performance may be moved into Exeter Phoenix.
