Experience the magic of the festive season with a screening of THE RED SHOES (1948) in Studio 74 – enjoy a night of wonder and enchantment as we take you on a journey through one of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger’s most beloved films of all time.

When she is cast as the prima ballerina in a new work entitled ‘The Red Shoes’, eager young dancer Victoria Page is driven to breaking point and beyond by the charismatic but obsessive impresario Boris Lermontov. Powell and Pressburger, aided by Brian Easdale’s score and Jack Cardiff’s sumptuous Technicolor photography, create an atmospheric piece of cinema that is as sinister as it is magical.

This screening is supported by BFI and is part of a nationwide season celebrating the ground breaking filmmaking duo Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger.
