Dir. Thomas Vinterberg | Denmark | 2016 | 90 mins
A pioneer of the Dogme 95 filmmaking movement, Vinterberg (Festen, The Hunt), presents a unique feature inspired by events in his own life. Loaded with memorable characters and spirited scenes of bohemian lifestyle, this is a humorous, delicate and touching portrait of an entire generation.
When Erik inherits his large family home in bohemian 1970s Copenhagen he and his wife Anna agree to open the house up and invite friends and acquaintances to join them in communal living.
What follows is a compelling clash between their personal desires and the dream of communal solidarity; as their ideal of tolerant socialist living is eclipsed by an earth-shattering love affair, putting their relationship, their community and the commune to its greatest test.
