One of Japan’s greatest animators, Hosoda (Wolf Children, Summer Wars), tells the story of Kyuta, a young orphan who is living on the streets and Kumatetsu, a gruff bear-like warrior. This touching animated story displays a warts-and-all view of humanity with loveably flawed characters, and is visually stunning to boot.

When Kyuta stumbles upon a fantastic world of beasts he meets Kumatetsu, a warrior who has been searching for the perfect apprentice to help him become the new Lord of the land. But when a deep darkness threatens to throw the human and beast worlds into chaos, the strong bond between this unlikely pair will be put to the ultimate test—a final showdown that will only be won if the two can finally work together using all of their combined strength and courage.
