KAGEMUSHA TAIKO

Spirit of the Drum is a title that reflects the fact that taiko is about much more than just drumming.  There’s a depth of meaning that makes a taiko concert a great experience on many different levels.

Under the artistic direction of Jonathan Kirby, Kagemusha Taiko have performed in Japan and USA as well as Europe, and their first show since before the pandemic sees them return to the Exeter Phoenix, where the group first began more than twenty years ago.

Expect to see new arrangements of some of the group’s most popular, highly-choregraphed repertoire, along with new material including Quo Nunc? and Viam Tympani which feature taiko with plainsong contributed by Matthew Cann of Exeter Cathedral Choir.

The show will present a range of moods and, like all Kagemusha Taiko concerts, it aims to be an exciting and uplifting experience for everyone.
