Rhys Morgan: Seaweed in the Fruit Locker

Join artist Rhys Morgan and the LGBTQIA+ choir for a performance of traditional and new Sea Shanties on Exeter’s historic quayside, re-worked and performed from a queer perspective.

The choir was formed by artist Rhys Morgan to explore queer motifs within seafaring history and collective performance in marginalized communities through the tradition of shanty singing.  Over recent months the choir have used their lived experience to rework existing shanties and inspire new ones, continuing the tradition of these folk songs being adapted time and again through generations.

Information

The performance will take place in the Transit Shed on Exeter Quay and is open to all, lasting approximately 45mins – 1 hour. There is no dedicated seating so please feel free to bring something to sit on if you’d prefer.
