In this course taster we invite you to join us to make a creative journal and explore how creative activities can aid wellbeing, relieve stress and increase confidence. Tutors Amy McCarthy and Sam Lock will introduce you to the idea of expressing our thoughts and feelings through art and help us connect to the natural world. We will explore how we can use journaling to help express ourselves, bring order to our daily routines and create a positive record of our journey through life.
Creativity is greatly beneficial to our wellbeing; art activities can give participants skills and coping mechanisms to help relieve anxiety, combat depression and express emotions. Creating and keeping a creative journal is a great way to connect with our own thoughts, the wider world and a great way to learn new creative skills. We can draw on writing and poetry as well as the visual arts and we invite participants to start a journaling adventure.
This session is being provided by Devon Recovery Learning Community who will be taking over the Auditorium at Exeter Phoenix from 10am-4pm on Sunday 8th May. This is Session 2 of the day. As well as this workshop, they are offering badge-making and a resource library which can be accessed throughout the day. And keep your eyes peeled for Patrick the Shetland Pony – DRLC’s mascot who is due to make an appearance in the auditorium during the day!
