Turn your fabric scraps into treasures! In this hands-on five-week evening course, you’ll explore creative ways to transform leftover textiles into stunning handmade pieces – from colourful beads and decorative bowls to unique ornaments and baubles for your home.
Guided by Exeter-based textile artist and tutor, Rosy Tydeman, you’ll learn practical techniques for reusing fabric that would otherwise be thrown away, while discovering the beauty and sustainability of textile upcycling. Materials will be provided, but you’re encouraged to bring along any scraps of fabric that are special to you as well.
Perfect for beginners and craft enthusiasts alike, this class will leave you with a collection of charming creations – and a fresh perspective on what “waste” can become.
Rosy Tydeman is a textile artist and tutor with a studio in central Exeter called La Vie En Rose Makery – named after the song about seeing life through rose tinted spectacles! Rosy’s work focuses on the moments of love and joy found in everyday life, if we choose to notice, in what can be a rather overwhelming world…
Having worked as a teacher, a shoe maker, and a gauntlet maker for theatres, Rosy ran the art cafe The Glorious Art House in Exeter until 2023 ago, when she sold it to focus on her art and workshops. Alongside creating fabric clocks, pictures and various smaller items, Rosy teaches a range of creative textile workshops.
She is especially passionate about Slow Stitching – hand sewing in a gentle and mindful way, letting your cares dissolve into the making, and learning simple embroidery stitches to create beautiful things!
Workshop attendees get 10% off all food and hot drinks at the Café Bar.
