Have you ever wondered what a producer actually does? Do you have a sense of it, but would like to know more? Join us for this illuminating 2 hour workshop where we’ll unpick the role of the producer, learn about the business of producing shows, how to develop audiences, and the skills you’ll need to succeed. This workshop is ideal for any emerging or aspiring freelance producers, those who wish to set up their own theatre company, as well as artists who want to understand what it takes to self-produce their own work.

Following the workshop, we’ll be hosting a Creative Producers social and panel discussion in the Secret Garden, with some free refreshments. Led by Spork! producer Chris White, and the Poet in the City Young Producers team, this is a chance to catch up and network in an informal setting with other local Producers, and to hear about some of the opportunities and activities happening in Exeter. Open to everyone, whether you’re a Producer yourself, or interested in Creative Producing and a career in Arts and Culture.

This workshop will be run by Exeter-based freelance producer Naomi Turner. Naomi is producer for Quirk Theatre, runs Documental Theatre alongside Artistic Director Lucy Bell, was previously Performance Programmer at Exeter Phoenix, produced ‘The Beat of our Hearts‘ by Nat McGrath with Exeter Northcott, and is a Stage One supported producer.

Timings:

5:30pm-7.30pm – Producing Quirkshop – Studio 1

7.30pm-8pm – Informal drinks / social in the Secret Garden from 7.30PM

Panel discussion from 8 til 8.45PM in the Secret Garden

Social event to continue until 9.30PM
