In his striking feature debut, acclaimed opera director Damiano Michieletto reimagines Antonio Vivaldi’s time at Venice’s Ospedale della Pietà, told through the eyes of one of his most gifted students.

In 18th-century Venice, the Pietà shelters orphaned girls, training the most talented as musicians in a renowned orchestra that performs for elite patrons—while also shaping their prospects for marriage. Among them is Cecilia, a brilliant young violinist promised to a wealthy soldier. Though music expands her world, her future remains tightly controlled.

Everything shifts with the arrival of Vivaldi. Under his mentorship, Cecilia begins to imagine a different life—one driven not by duty, but by artistic freedom.

A vivid portrait of creativity and constraint, Primavera brings a woman’s voice to the forefront of a world that once kept it unheard.
