Our annual celebration of the best of the south west – and this year Phonic Fest is bigger than ever!
Join our day of brilliant bands and dazzling DJs at Exeter Phoenix, and help support Phonic FM – Exeter’s community radio station. Featuring… COLOUR TV Influenced by their friends and surroundings, as well as a bubbling cauldron of icons, Colour TV strike an angular and frenetic onstage silhouette. For fans of Suede, The Smiths, The Stone Roses “My new favourite thing” – Steve Lamacq THE MAISONETTES DIY Grrrl band from Exeter. Since forming in 2020 they’ve gone on to releasing punk bangers including Dirty No-one! and Sick Of This and recently supported Buzzcocks. “Buy their music immediately!” – MIDI TV GEORGE MOIR Sweet wholegrain organic sound waves from George Moir. Championed by BBC Radio 1 DJs, George will be bringing his witty upbeat tunes to Phonic Fest 2023 For fans of Alfie Templeman, Rex Orange County, James Blake. “A purveyor of whimsical, lovelorn bedroom pop…with results that are deeply ensnaring.” – The Sunday Times SLUGBEARD Four slugs bringing you nautical nonsense in the form of sea shanties, folk instrumentals and drinking songs. FLUFF Fresh from Glastonbury Festival, one-man punk riot fluff joins Phonic Fest 2023 with heavy techno drums mashed with a huge guitar sound. “Punk isn’t dead, it’s all being channelled through this young lad from Exeter” – The Devil Has The Best Tuna “A one-man punk act with more stage presence than most bands put together” – Redbrick BRAMWELL Tom, Avalon and Sol are Southwest DIY three piece Bramwell, striking a satisfying balance between jangle pop and weird, jagged punk. New single Upside Down is out now! — For the first time we have acoustic acts playing on the Terrace in the sunshine followed by Phonic FM DJs through the night.
