Peace Officer

+ Skype Q&A With Directors Scott Christopherson and Brad Barber

Dir. Scott Christopherson and Brad Barber, USA, 105 mins, 2015

Since the late 1970s there has been a 15,000% increase in SWAT team raids in the United States.

This multi award-winning documentary considers the increasingly militarised state of American police as told through the story of William ‘Dub’ Lawrence, a former sheriff who established and trained his rural state’s first SWAT team only to see that same unit kill his son-in-law in a controversial standoff 30 years later.

Engrossing and well crafted The Peace Officer picks apart illuminating cases from Dub’s unique perspective and combines the passion of a committed detective with the grief of a victim.

‘As engrossing and well crafted as it is timely’

‘A refreshingly objective and levelheaded documentary that’s as culturally relevant as it is expertly paced and captivating.’

‘A powerful and important film’
