PaddleBoat’s Summer Theatre Week

Imaginative young people aged 7 to 11 are invited to create a stage play with award winning PaddleBoat Theatre Company during the Summer holidays. The inventive Exeter-based company, which is known for its distinctive and playful approach to theatre, will guide youngsters through a week of storytelling, puppetry, music, design, acting and devising.

This theatre week offers children the chance to have fun creating with other children and professional artists to stage and perform a play at the Exeter Phoenix. Young people will adapt and create a brand new version of Kenneth Grahame’s beloved The Wind in the Willows. From messing about in boats to venturing into The Wild Wood, there is lots to explore in this story. Everyone involved will have the chance to input their ideas and creativity to help stage and perform it. At the end of the week, friends and family will be welcomed to the Exeter Phoenix to watch the children perform their very own version of The Wind in the Willows. Hattie Brown of PaddleBoat, said: ‘This week will be such a lot of fun. It’s a chance for you to make new friends and create a brand new version of a classic story!’

The course is for children aged 7-11 years old on course start date – no previous theatre experience required. Rehearsals and the performance will take place in the Exeter Phoenix. PaddleBoat will be at the Exeter Phoenix entrance to meet and greet children and parents/guardians. By purchasing a place on this theatre week you agree that your child(ren) must be signed in when they are dropped off and signed out when they are picked up by a nominated adult. Refunds will not be given unless the booked space is filled by another customer.
