PaddleBoat’s Summer Theatre Week

Imaginative young people aged 7 to 11 are invited to create a stage play with award winning PaddleBoat Theatre Company during the Summer holidays.

The inventive Exeter-based company, which is known for its distinctive and playful approach to theatre, will guide youngsters through a week of storytelling, puppetry, music, design, acting and devising.

This theatre week offers children the chance to have fun creating with other children and professional artists to put together a piece of original drama and perform on Exeter Phoenix’s stage.

The week will focus on Stories from the sea! For hundreds of years, the lighthouse has stood as a warning of danger and beacon of hope. It’s time now we shine a light on all the stories that have happened on the seas below.

At the end of the week, friends and family will be welcomed to Exeter Phoenix to watch the children perform their Stories from the sea.

Katy Dash, Artistic Director of PaddleBoat, said: ‘Whether you have loads of experience performing or you want to try drama for the first time, this week will be such a lot of fun. It’s a chance for you to make new friends and design and perform your own stories of the sea!’

The course is for children aged 7-11 years old on course start date – no previous theatre experience required.

Rehearsals and the performance will take place in the Exeter Phoenix studios. PaddleBoat will be at the Exeter Phoenix entrance to meet and greet children and parents/guardians. Children must be signed in when they are dropped off and signed out when they are picked up.
