A disillusioned 23 year old Jehovahs Witness breaks free from the controlling cult and lands on the dance floors of 90’s clubland. Shunned by his family and everyone he knows, he is not prepared for what lies ahead.
Alexander Rhodes is an award winning spoken word performer and poet. His debut play is an energetic mix of Anger, Love, mind programming, self-realisation, Agony and total Ecstasy. This piece tackles the incredibly complex issues created when a child is brought within a strict doomsday cult. The performance will resonate with anyone who has undergone external manipulation and control.
The autobiographical play is pacey, dynamic and set to a backdrop of classic music samples. Alexander moves effortlessly between the characters and scenes to deliver the chemical highs and pitiful lows on this roller-coaster ride. If you were frequented clubs in the 90s you will relate to the emotive and cleverly choreographed Ibiza journey. If you missed the 90s then this is the perfect way to get a taste of what it was like.
The show enjoyed a number of successes in 2018 including winning the Plymouth Fringe Toast Of Plymouth Award on its debut outing. It wowed audiences at summer festivals, Edinburgh Fringe festival and packed out gigs around the UK.
Expect wry observations, chemically induced inspirations and twisted logic.
An absolute Edinburgh Fringe gem

If you look hard enough you will find evidence of a previous incarnation as a DJ and producer of electronic music. A few house music mixes here, the odd chill out track there, echoing in the digital ether. Nowadays you are more likely to find him performing poetry at slams and spoken word events.
