Exeter Phoenix’s Two Short Nights Film Festival is back for its 18th year with another exciting programme of screenings, talks and workshops that celebrate the vibrant world of short film. Whether you make film or love film, join us for must-see short films from across the globe, emerging local talent, and special events with industry professionals.
Filmmakers Lab host the premiere of Chouette Film’s documentary Nobody’s Metaphor, after which we’ll be joined by the producers of the film for a Q&A.
Dir. Remi Sowa, 2019, UK, Documentary, 35 mins
This powerful documentary follows an innovative project, which enabled a group of young muslim girls to learn fencing. Through gruelling fencing classes fused with spoken word workshops the girls are empowered with confidence, visibility and friendships. The film was made by Chouette films, a carbon neutral production company.
This session is run in partnership with the Filmmakers Lab, a filmmaking talent development initiative, providing networking and skill building opportunities for filmmakers in Devon, and further afield across the South West.
Open to all, but aimed towards early-career filmmakers who have an aspiration to develop themselves further as practitioners. Meeting monthly at Exeter Phoenix these supportive social sessions include creative workshops, peer-to-peer development, guest speakers, masterclasses and film screenings.
