Nominated at this year’s BAFTA Film Awards in the category of ‘Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer’, Akinola Davies Jr.’s bold and poetic film follows a father, estranged from his young sons.
Set against Nigeria’s 1993 election and told over the course of a single day’s journey into and around Lagos, Folarin and his young sons, Aki and Remi, reckon with their relationship while navigating a city on the precipice of democratic crisis. Captured through the childs-eye-view of visiting a massive – and unstable – metropolis for the very first time, details of Folarin’s life emerge and the strain in their connection becomes increasingly clear.
