Molly Erin McCarthy

A new installation work by Molly Erin McCarthy, whose work challenges our perception of what we consider ‘real’. Through the creation of fictional worlds and cryptic artefacts, McCarthy explores how we form – and are formed by – the physical and philosophical landscapes we reside in.

By mixing research and references from wide ranging sources – spanning scientific studies to internet lore – her works convey a sense of anxious chaos, reflecting how it feels to exist within an increasingly complex web of often intangible, and progressively unstable, systems.

Her current body of work explores the changing interests in Cornwall, inspired by her experience growing up in ‘The Forgotten Corner’ and current issues being faced by the region.
