Writer-director Kenneth Lonergan (You Can Count on Me, Margaret) returns with this emotional and critically acclaimed drama starring Casey Affleck in an oscar winning performance.

Lee, a solitary Boston handyman returns to his hometown after a family tragedy that demands he becomes legal guardian of his teenage nephew.  Once back he must also confront the weight of the past as memories of an earlier, even more devastating tragedy involving his ex-wife (Michelle Williams) resurface.

As in his previous films, Manchester By The Sea evinces Lonergan’s eye for comedy amidst tragedy, a sprawling interest in an array of supporting characters and most of all an investigation into what constitutes the texture of real life.
