Sunday’s screening will be introduced by Dr Phil Wickham, Curator of The Bill Douglas Cinema Museum at the University of Exeter. The museum holds a large collection on Italian Cinema and Phil has taught on the impact of post-war Italian film on audiences in Britain.

Federico Fellini’s exquisite tale of celebrity casts an adoring yet critical eye towards over Rome in the 1960s. Set over seven decadent days, the film follows Marcello Mastroianni’s philandering journalist, pursuing a happiness that’s always just out of reach. Back in cinemas in a brand-new 4K restoration to celebrate both its 60th anniversary and Fellini’s centenary, La dolce vita is an enchanting fable of fame and folly.
