SHOWING TIMES:
Turtles Can Fly, the third feature from internationally acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Bahman Ghobadi is set in a refugee camp close to the Turkey-Iran border. It is the eve of the American invasion of Iraq and everyone is keen to hear of Saddam Hussein’s fall.
A 13-year-old boy nicknamed Satellite (Soran Ebrahim) has become the leader of a motley gang of children and has been tasked with installing an antenna so the villagers can hear the broadcast.
This mesmerizing film, which Ghobadi dedicated to “all the children in the world” deals with the fallout from both dictators and liberators on the torn lives of children living in refugee camps.
